Backdating scheme

Jobs Plus Incentive is an employer incentive which encourages and rewards employers who offer employment opportunities to the long term unemployed. This Incentive replaces the Revenue Job Assist and Employer Job (PRSI) Exemption Scheme from 1st July 2013.As of 1st April 2015 the CASC rules changed and these CASCs were given until 1st April 2016 to check they met the new rules. In order to remain a CASC, clubs have to comply with these new rules on an on-going basis.Whichever guidance you are following the core of the scheme is pretty simple to operate, and we’d encourage parishes to keep it that way.

Eligible employers who recruit full time employees on or after 1st July 2013 may apply for the Incentive.(The £8,000 threshold applies from the 2016/17 tax year – the limit for prior years was £5,000) In total, it should benefit parishes by more than £15 million a year. The guidance on this page offers practical guidance for Church of England parishes – it does not provide complete guidance to the scheme. This page provides an overview of the benefits available. There are two types of benefits available, housing benefit and council tax support, you can find further information on both below.

If you are eligible for both types of council tax support, then you will be awarded the higher amount.
